Meet the leadership team
Charles Williams is the Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northpointe Bancshares and its subsidiary Northpointe Bank. He founded Northpointe Bank in 1999 and successfully lead the company through the 2008 credit crisis to be one of the highest performing banks in the nation1.
Charles has over 35 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to founding Northpointe Bank, he served as a Senior Vice President, Senior Lending Officer, and Director of First National Bank of America. He was responsible for loan origination, credit approval and loan administration and served on the executive committee of the Board of Directors.
Williams has a degree from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.

He is responsible for overseeing the company's residential lending business channels. This includes retail sales and operations, consumer-direct lending, correspondent lending, capital markets and loan hedging activities. In addition, he is responsible for the company’s retail banking, branch operations and the customer support team.
Michael has 30 years of financial and credit risk management experience. Prior to joining Northpointe Bank, he held various senior positions with financial institutions, most recently as Senior Vice President of Lending at Lake Michigan Credit Union. In this role, he grew the company to become one of the largest credit union mortgage lenders in the nation. He has served as an officer of Michigan's Department of Insurance and Financial Regulation's Mortgage Industry Advisory Board and is an active member of Freddie Mac’s Industry Advisory Board.
Michael has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Western Michigan University.
David Christel joined Northpointe Bank in 2010. He is responsible for building and overseeing the highly successful Mortgage Purchase Program.
David has over 25 years of mortgage warehouse lending and commercial banking experience. Prior to joining Northpointe Bank, he served as President of Natty Mac, a nationwide warehouse lender. He also held senior level management positions with Citigroup, Republic Bank, and HSBC.
David has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Buffalo.
Kevin Comps started with Northpointe Bank in 2017. He is responsible for overseeing multiple corporate functions including information technology, credit, compliance, legal, administration, facilities, human resources, and loan servicing.
Kevin has over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry including various roles in executive management, such as Director of Finance and Accounting, Controller and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Northpointe Bank, he held leadership roles at Capitol National Bank, Flagstar Bank, Michigan Commerce Bank, and Capitol Bancorp Limited.
Kevin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and a degree from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
Brian Kuelbs leads Northpointe Bank’s corporate financial strategy as well as seeking out effective investment opportunities.
Brian has over 20 years of financial experience. Prior to Northpointe Bank, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer for public and privately held depository institutions, private equity backed ventures and specialty real estate finance companies. His most recent position was with Impac Mortgage Holdings, Inc., and prior to that he held senior positions with The Banc of California, Home Point Financial Corporation, Aurora Bank FSB, Countrywide Financial Corporation and GMAC Financial Services.
Brian has a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Finance from the University of Notre Dame, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with majors in Mathematics, Quantitative Analysis, and Finance. He has also been a guest speaker at industry conferences on the topics of banking, mortgage finance and regulation.
Steven Davids develops creative solutions to serve Northpointe Bank’s Correspondent Lending clients.
With 15 years of experience in the banking industry, Steven oversees project operations as well as the execution of pricing and sales strategies. He has become an established leader responsible for the company’s Correspondent Lending business.
Steven has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Michigan State University and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
Sheri DuChemin has been with Northpointe Bank since 2006. She partners with business leaders to drive performance and make a direct impact on business results, and is integral in helping to advance culture, grow operational excellence, recruit top talent, benefits/payroll, performance development, talent development, training, and enrichment for more than 1,000 employees throughout the United States.
Sheri has 27 years of human resources experience. Prior to joining Northpointe Bank, she held a leadership position as the Director of Human Resources for Provia Software and was instrumental in the growth of the company.
Sheri has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Davenport University and a Master’s in Human Resource Development from Michigan State University.
Bryan Neitzelt started with Northpointe Bank in 2019. He oversees the capital markets group responsible for secondary marketing, as well as creating and maintaining investor relationships.
Bryan has been in mortgage banking for over 23 years with experience in hedging, forecasting, advanced modeling, lock desk, investor delivery, post-closing, product development, accounting, and servicing. Prior to joining Northpointe Bank, he was Vice President of Secondary Marketing for The Huntington National Bank.
Bryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Finanace and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Otterbein College.
John Scattergood leads Northpointe Bank’s enterprise-wide information technology organization and strategic programs.
John has more than 30 years of financial services technical expertise and is a forward-thinking and innovative leader with significant experience in residential lending and customer service systems. Most recently, Scattergood was chief information officer of JJS CIO Advisors, performing critical enterprise technology assessments for large organizations and private equity firms. In addition, he has held leadership roles at Freedom Mortgage Corporation, JPMorgan, AHMS/Wilbur Ross and Bear Stearns / Hudson Global Advisors.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Minnesota.
Nathan Smith oversees Northpointe’s accounting and finance department.
Nathan has over 17 years of financial services experience with a focus on transformation and efficiency. Prior to Northpointe Bank, he served as P&C Controller for Kemper Corporation. In addition, he has held senior positions with Banc of California, Inc., Automobile Club of Southern California, North Group Holdings, LLC, and Cornerstone Ventures, Inc.
Nathan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California.
Gary has over 30 years of financial experience. Prior to joining Northpointe Bank, he held various senior positions at Bank of America in the Global Corporate Investment Banking and Global Banking and Markets divisions. In addition to business unit, regulatory and financial statement reporting, he has been involved in corporate transition team activities, strategic corporate initiatives, and served as Chief Financial Officer for the Broker/Dealer entity.
Gary has a Master of Business Administration in Finance from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern College with a major in Business Economics and Accounting.
